Why this site exists

I started Day Trips from Bangkok because I was tired of travel content written to earn commissions, not to help people. A "top 10 Ayutthaya tours" article is usually a listicle with affiliate links to whichever tour pays the highest referral fee , not the one that matches your interests, budget, or travel style.

The photos were taken when the temple was empty. The reviews are cherry-picked. The pricing is outdated the moment the article is published. And by the time you arrive, you've already committed to a tour that wasn't what you expected.

I wanted to build something I would use myself , a resource that tells you which tours are worth booking, which are overpriced, and what to expect on the day so nothing catches you off guard.

What I do

For every destination, I look at every tour available on Viator , the largest marketplace for guided activities in Thailand , and research the ones that are popular and well-reviewed. I don't cover everything. I cover what's worth your time.

My guides cover the logistics: how to get there, how long it takes, what the day looks like in practice. I also include honest assessments of whether a particular tour is good value , because the most expensive option isn't always the best, and the cheapest is often the most frustrating.

I update my guides when pricing changes or when a tour's quality drops. This isn't a static site built once and forgotten , I revisit content when I hear things have changed.

How I make money

I include affiliate links to Viator throughout my guides. When you book through one of my links, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is exactly the same as if you'd booked directly.

I only recommend tours I think are worth booking. I don't accept payment to feature or promote specific products, and I don't hide tours that don't have affiliate links. If a tour is the top option for a given situation, I recommend it , whether or not it earns me anything.

My affiliate relationship with Viator is disclosed on every page that contains product links. You can read the full disclosure in the Terms of Service.

Who this site is for

My guides are written for independent travellers who want specifics, not marketing copy. If you want to know what a tour involves, what the guides are like, and whether it's worth booking over a DIY alternative, you'll find that here.

If you're looking for a package deal, airport transfers, or hotel bookings, I'm not the right resource. I focus exclusively on day trips from Bangkok that you book through Viator.

Every tour researched before listing I check Viator for every destination and only include tours I've confirmed are current, popular, and well-reviewed.
Honest assessments, not marketing I tell you what's worth it and what isn't. If a cheap tour is a waste of time, I'll say so.
Updated when things change Prices and quality shift. I revisit guides when I hear something worth reporting.
No markup, no hidden costs The price through my affiliate link is identical to the direct Viator price. I earn a commission, you don't pay extra.
